About The Author
Linda Chitwood is an animal welfare activist and the volunteer Director of The Homeless Animals Relief Project (HARP), a nonprofit animal welfare charity she began in 1996 and incorporated in 2000. Based in north Mississippi, HARP was founded in response to the overpopulation and overwhelming health care needs of cats and dogs living with the poor. HARP has provided free or very low-cost spay/neuter care for over 15,000 pets living with low-income people—all on a shoestring budget.
The recipient of The Annie Lee Roberts Courage & Compassion Award from The Summerlee Foundation, Chitwood has over 20 years of experience in addressing pet welfare challenges and providing spay/neuter surgery to pets of the poor. Because the majority of pet overpopulation comes from disadvantaged communities, HARP volunteers direct their efforts there and $5 For a Cat Head reveals how they do it. 100% of the profits from this book will go to the animals served by HARP and will be used for their spay/neuter surgeries.
