Kirk was born and raised in Curtis, Nebraska, a small, rural, town in the southwest corner of the state. He graduated from local Medicine Valley High School and went to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he majored in Social Science, graduating with honors.

Bachelor’s degree in hand, he went straight to Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon, where he received his juris doctorate degree. While in law school he clerked for a private general practice law firm, Oregon’s Inmate Legal Services and the Oregon Attorney General.  Kirk then joined a general private practice firm in Roseburg, Oregon.

He soon returned to his home state of Nebraska, opened a sole practice law firm and practiced criminal defense law for nearly twenty years, during which time he represented all types of violent and non-violent persons accused of various crimes. He has experience handling homicides, large drug cases, domestic violence and fraud.

Wolgamott then turned to a second legal career, working for the Office of Chief Counsel for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within the Department of Homeland Security, as an attorney advisor. After over ten years working various major disasters across the country in a variety of positions, he is currently embedded in the Consolidated Resource Center – East in Winchester, Virginia.

Kirk enjoys writing fiction, watching his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers and New Orleans Saints play football and adoring Pierre, his pet rabbit.
