Lola Willis is a mother of seven and wife to an offshore oilman. Born in Hawai’i, she was raised in Leesville, Louisiana by her island father and Southern mother. In adulthood, Lola and her family made their home in Lafayette, Louisiana where she began writing in earnest. In May 2024, Lola lost her firstborn daughter to suicide, which now fuels her poetry and activism for suicide prevention.
Lola’s poetry, short stories, and parenting articles have appeared in both online and print publications, such as Lafayette’s Artworks culture and arts magazine, AcadianaMoms magazine, flashquake online literary journal, and The Danforth Review online magazine. November Keepsakes is her first poetry & short story collection.
