Author Info

Les Atkins, originally from Crewe, VA, is a gifted storyteller and veteran television news journalist. For the past decade, he has worked as a public information officer for public schools in North Carolina. Since childhood, Atkins has enjoyed writing.  As a child, he struggled with reading and speech difficulties. He chose to write his first children's book, Brave to Be Lee, with the hope of inspiring those facing similar challenges. The book also aims to teach empathy and awareness toward children with special needs.

Dedicated to his beloved second-grade teacher Mrs. Eva Lee, who helped him overcome his speech impediment, Brave to Be Lee is a heartwarming tale rooted in Atkins' own childhood experiences. With vivid storytelling and compassion, Atkins delivers an uplifting message of courage and acceptance.

Les and his wife currently reside in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina with their two dogs Zeke and Zoey.
