Laura is a creative industries professional with thirty plus years of hands-on experience in design, product development, entrepreneurship, and business development. Her work has taken her from developing creative products and supporting entrepreneurs to contributing to initiatives that strengthen creative businesses and preserve cultural heritage. Through practical project work, collaboration with artisans and designers, and engagement with public and private sector institutions, international development agencies, and cultural organizations, she has built a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the Caribbean creative industries.
With interests spanning textiles, fashion, craft and handmade production, and design, Laura is drawn to the connections between creativity, cultural identity, material culture, and enterprise. Her experience and research interests extend to product design and development, creative business support, and cultural heritage documentation and preservation. She is particularly interested in how traditional knowledge, local materials, and Caribbean-rooted creative practices can inspire contemporary design, create distinctive products, and connect with wider markets.
More recently, Laura has ventured into authorship, self-publishing her first book, Gratitude101: A to Z of Thankfulness. It is a warm, encouraging guide to mindfulness and daily gratitude for anyone navigating life transitions, healing, or the need for a fresh start. Using the alphabet as a framework, each of the 26 chapters opens a new doorway into a more present, grounded, and meaningful way of living. Honest, practical, and deeply human, this book meets you where you are and walks with you toward where you want to be
She refers to the book as a project drawing on her reflections and experiences in life to offer encouragement and motivation to others. (Project implies there is more to come). This new chapter reflects her desire to share lessons learned, inspire personal growth, and remind others of the value of resilience, self-discovery, and continued learning.
