Author Info
The author was born and lives in Oregon. He enjoys fly-fishing, writing, painting, music, and traveling. He and his wife, Sandra have two sons, one daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. Douglas graduated from the University of Oregon, and was awarded his doctorate degree at University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Douglas enjoys the Oregon Coast, and you can often find him walking the beaches, or fishing the coastal streams. He has several other books he is currently working on. He took a fact-finding trip to Princeton, NJ for a work he recently completed "Fishing With Einstein".

His writing subjects vary from instructional such as "How To Study Smart" to historic fiction, comedy/fiction and science fiction. He is always interested in talking with potential publishers for his works.

HOW TO STUDY SMART is a concise book that he wrote to help struggling students such as himself to achieve better grades, and have more opportunities in life.

FACES IN MY SHOWER  In 2016, the author became very seriously ill. Heart problems caused him to be forced to take some very strong, toxic, anti-arrhythmic medications. However, one small 'benefit' seemed to be that suddenly, he began to see faces staring at him in his shower.

He thought; "Am I going crazy? Am I Mad? Is this dementia or was I hallucinating? Is this some kind of flashback to the 60's?"

After a while, he started looking forward to the hot, soothing showers and the opportunity to search for the faces, with a chance to relax and escape. Finally, he decided to attempt to write a book that appealed to the reader's imagination and possibly offered a time to forget all your troubles while enjoying using your mind in a different way. "Faces In My Shower - Vol. I" is the result of his effort.

After surgery, working on this book became the author's therapy for relaxing, and keeping his mind active. After all, you can only watch so many "Perry Masons" in a day. He would mark the faces on the tiles when he took his showers then after about 40-50 tiles were marked, he would take his camera into the shower and take photos. These were then downloaded onto his computer and he would highlight the lines that make up the faces. All that you need is a very active imagination.

The author is positive that many readers will spot faces that he has not seen in his shower, and maybe more. He has yet to explore the tiles on the ceiling or on the lower 5-6 rows of each wall. He hopes that you find the hunt for the faces enjoyable and rewarding. This book can help to develop or awaken the reader's imagination, while creating an artistic eye. Just hunting for the faces can be a challenging and relaxing experience.

Currently seeking a publisher for new manuscript: FISHING WITH EINSTEIN  America is about to enter World War II.  An important letter is composed to President Roosevelt by Dr. Einstein, outlining that a bomb of unimaginable power is possible.  A bloody murder of a foreign Consular Officer in Portland, Oregon, and a German uranium pile explosion that appears to be an early attempt to build an atom bomb sets-up this thriller.   Espionage, involving German, FBI, and British Agents, rapidly moves the plot through radical turns and twists that will leave readers breathless.  Along the way, we learn how and why top-secrets were protected for the Manhattan Project, and how Dr. Einstein might have stopped the bomb’s development, and was in fact, considered to be a security risk.

Then at one of the darkest hours for America during World War II, Dr. Einstein disappears.  When FBI special agents discover that his missing may have something to do with fission, alarms start going off all over Washinton, D.C.  The government fears Herr Professor may show up at one of the secret sites of the bomb’s development.  Along with this fear is the larger fear that Hitler is developing the Atom bomb and, Dr. Heisenberg is likely months ahead of the Allies in its development.  If Hitler developes the bomb, there would be no hesitation with him using it.  Ultimate destruction with the incomprehensible deaths of millions of innocent people that would even dwarf the deaths of the Third Reich’s death camps.  If Dr. Einstein could stop or delay the bomb’s development, Hitler might win the war.  Agents are scrambling, J. Edgar Hoover is fuming, and President Roosevelt is having fits.  And where is Dr. Einstein?!

“Fishing With Einstein” relates science facts, and mind-blowing quantum theory, along with how the Bomb was eventually built, despite huge barriers.  All this is occurring as a bunch of unsuspecting fly-fishers are enjoying the company of this brilliant man while being completely isolated in the high desert country of Oregon, fly-fishing on one of the most fantastic trout fishing streams in America.  While FBI special agents, and an assassin are attempting to track down Dr. Einstein,  the fishing camp is awash in spirited discussions revolving around many issues of the day, including the war, science, and the question of the existence of God, and life after death.  This is intensely discussed between Dr. Einstein, and the host.  Finally, as all agents, including a  potential assassin are nearing their quarry, intervention by a unexpected force results in an exciting conclusion.
