Susan Mallory grew up in Pasadena, California. She attended Stanford University and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College. She received an MA in Spanish from Memphis State University and, many decades later, an MFA in Creative Writing from Spalding University. She and her husband live in Memphis, Tennessee. For many years she spent summers in Maine. These days she and her family live several months of the year in Bozeman, Montana. In 2020 she celebrated her 80th birthday with the publication of Blue Amen, her first collection of poetry.
