Sean Patrick Sayers is an author, educator, and endurance yacht consultant based in Southern Maryland. His work blends big-history thinking with high-stakes storytelling, shaped by years in public education, experience in emergency management and defense work, and a life lived on the water.
He is the author of Hoplite Ridge, an epic military science fiction novel where ancient gods collide with futuristic warfare and humanity is forced to decide what it believes in to survive. He also writes narrative nonfiction, including his forthcoming Black Meridian: Piracy & Empire, which explores the brutal logic of empire, trade, and power across the world.
Sean has sailed thousands of miles with his family, and that time offshore shapes his writing, from coastal detail and isolation to the discipline you only learn when the weather changes and nobody is coming to help.
In 2022, Sean’s daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. That experience reshaped his priorities and led him into advocacy and philanthropy focused on supporting families facing pediatric cancer. He donates a portion of his book royalties to organizations that provide direct support to children and families during treatment.
Sean lives and writes in Southern Maryland with his family.
