Paul Nathanael Berland grew up in Chicago, went to college on the East Coast, went back to Chicago for 10 years, lived in Elgin for 17 years, and then moved back to Chicago again for 3 years. He had a computer programming career that lasted 30 years. In 2013, he had a spiritual experience that changed his attitude about the world. He became more politically and spiritually active. He was also an environmental activist for the next 10 years. He also made some electronic music under the name of Astral Prune between the years of 1994 and 2023.
