Author Info

I was born and raised Muslim in Covington, Ky., and Cincinnati, Ohio.  I have been an educator for over 15 years, teaching in a variety of environments. I  have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's in Special Education. Currently, I am working as an Intervention Specialist in an Elementary School.

I have been married for 16 years and have 5 children. My family and teaching experiences are what inspire me to write.  I have published two books to date. My first published book, “Zara’s New Eid Dress”; is loosely based on my daughter and my experience growing up as an African American Muslim.  My latest book, Boom, Boom, Tap was inspired by my oldest brother and his love for music. When I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with family, reading mystery novels, playing softball, and making memories with friends.
