Keith Fahey comes from a self-destructive family but has sustained the will to live for 82 years (birthday in August 2026) by meditating the epic tradition: “Easy is going down to Avernus, but winning you way back, that is the labor, that the task.”
Inspired by the Apollo Moon Flights and by America’s neverending Trojan War, he fancied a need to write the American Epic: If not me, who?
He began work on Falcon Will Give Birth in early 1986 (then titled Epimetheus Bound: A Comic Salute to the Epic Tradition: Or, how Wishy Epi grows older without becoming an assassin). Years of defeat and rejection were countered by the best family and community spirit, and by invoking the spirit of Telemachos: “I must not, going in search of my godlike father, ruin myself.”
