Robert L. Kasprzycki was born in Connecticut and first showed an
interest in art at an early age. Initially drawing cartoons, he expanded his
interest to portraits and scenery utilizing pastels, watercolors, then oils and
acrylics.
This creative knack expanded later to his first profession as an
industrial designer and manager, working in corporate for over twenty years designing
innovative products in the manufacturing industry. There are several design
patents and a mechanical patent to his credit. While an industrial designer, he
also mentored others as an adjunct professor.
At Syracuse University, he received his first formal instruction
in art, working toward a five year Bachelor degree in Industrial Design. He later completed an MBA in Marketing.
Realizing that manufacturing in the U.S. was waning in the late 90s, he decided
to pursue a different and second professional path in education and training.
After completing a Master of Science in Instructional Design, he worked in the
instructional design field, a more analytical profession, designing courses,
courseware, and curricula for a variety of organizations in higher education,
corporations, and non-profits. He also served in the military as a United
States Army Reserve Officer in the active reserves for over a decade. He
decided to “retire” a year ago, however, in this phase of his life he started a
fine art business, desiring to get back to his creative penchant and continues
to complete works of art with acrylic, oil, and digital media.
You are probably wondering how this author became interested in
writing. The springboard for writing
began with a creative writing course completed as an elective many years ago
while in college. Bob has always enjoyed writing, whether completing research
papers, or courses for students or adult learners. The impetus for writing this
novel entitled “The Talisman”, was interest in Native Americans, their plight,
achievements, stories, and embrace of nature.
He began to research Native Americans, and due to his similar interest
with nature, and love of the Northwest, decided to focus on the regions of
Alaska and British Columbia, Canada and the Inuit culture. He completed “The
Talisman” with the intent to develop both characters and plot, and to strive to
more deeply address themes, and weave symbolism throughout the novel.
Bob also enjoys photography, tennis, traveling, and volunteer
work, in addition to art and writing.
