J.K. Hoenmans is a lover of animals and nature, and enjoys spending time with her Nubian goats and Morgan Horses on her farm in Florida. She loves to cook, preferring to play with ingredients and flavors to come up with her own “recipes” instead following established ones. Her first book, Little Book of Eats, was created to share her most often requested recipes from farmers market customers and friends who wanted to be able to make dishes for themselves.

Hoenmans left the corporate world after starting a farm she had planned to use to retire to. Rather than waiting to retire, she began an experiment in self sustainability, trying to live as much as possible from what the land could produce. Laying hens, raised on pasture, provided eggs, and vegetables of all varieties, grown without pesticides, were both offered for sale to help support the farm, as well as for personal consumption. Finally, Nubian dairy goats were added as a source of dairy. Within a year of adding them, the goats became the focal point, and continue to be the driving force of Little Garden of Eat’n.
