James R. "Jim" Golden first learned to see the open spaces as a soccer midfielder at West Point, then spent 31 years applying that instinct across an Army career — from artillery assignments to Professor and Head of West Point's Department of Social Sciences — retiring as a Brigadier General. He carried the same eye for seeing the spaces into the business world as a senior executive at Tenneco and later as Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at William & Mary, all while soccer remained a lifelong constant as a player, coach, and proud fan of a soccer-loving family.
