About the Author

Dominic Nessi is the author of The Source Trilogy, a series of science and archaeological thrillers combining modern science, ancient civilizations, archaeological mysteries, environmental questions, and international adventure.

His debut novel, The Source, begins with a scientific anomaly and expands into a global investigation connecting some of the world’s most enigmatic ancient sites. Its sequel, Echo of the Source, moves the investigation into Mesoamerica, where discoveries at ancient Maya sites reveal new dimensions of the mystery. Throughout the series, Nessi uses real locations, recognizable science, and archaeological questions as the foundation for speculative possibilities about humanity’s past and its relationship with the Earth.

Travel has been one of the defining influences on Nessi’s view of the world and on his fiction. He has traveled to more than 135 countries, visiting archaeological sites, historic cities, national parks, remote landscapes, and cultures across six continents. Many of the places, questions, and ideas encountered during those travels eventually found their way into The Source Trilogy.

Photography became another way of documenting those experiences. Nessi has produced a series of fine-art photography books featuring landscapes, wildlife, travel, and the changing character of natural light.

His photography and fiction share a common impulse: to look closely at the world and consider what might otherwise be overlooked. That curiosity lies at the center of The Source Trilogy.

Nessi’s novels draw upon archaeology, geology, planetary science, anthropology, ancient history, and contemporary technology while asking questions that established knowledge cannot always answer. What happens when evidence does not fit the accepted explanation? How much knowledge can disappear when a civilization collapses? Could sophisticated societies have existed before those preserved in recorded history? And what might humanity discover if apparently unrelated archaeological mysteries were examined as pieces of a much larger pattern?

Nessi does not approach those questions by attempting to replace science with speculation. Instead, he uses fiction to begin with what is known and then ask the question that has always driven speculative storytelling: What if?

That approach defines The Source Trilogy—stories grounded in recognizable science and real places but willing to explore possibilities beyond the boundaries of what humanity currently understands.

The perspective behind Nessi’s fiction is also informed by a professional career far removed from the traditional literary path.

His career has encompassed Native American programs, federal service, information technology, aviation, and cybersecurity. His work with Native American communities became an important part of his early professional life and provided firsthand experience with cultures in which history, land, community, and tradition remain deeply interconnected.

He later served as the first Chief Information Officer of the U.S. National Park Service, working at the intersection of technology and an organization responsible for protecting some of America’s most significant natural, historical, and cultural resources.

Nessi subsequently moved into aviation leadership, serving as Chief Information Officer of Los Angeles World Airports. His responsibilities placed him inside the complex technological environment supporting major commercial airports, where transportation, infrastructure, public safety, government, and technology converge.

He continues to work in aviation as a cybersecurity consultant, helping airports address cybersecurity risk, regulatory requirements, incident response, and the protection of critical systems. That experience with complex systems, emerging threats, technology, and the consequences of human decisions provides yet another perspective that informs the world of The Source Trilogy.
