Clement Binnings authors metaphysical, visionary and spiritual poetry, fiction and nonfiction. Impassioned by the suffering, abandonment and death experienced by the citizens of his native city of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, he wrote his breakout novel Angel Through the Storms, published in 2011. This first of two novels in The Grover Series was a visionary fiction finalist in both the Indie Excellence and USA Best Books contests and received an award from Readers Favorite in Southern Fiction. Its allegorical sequel, The Bubble Rule published in 2015, depicts the battle between the desire-laden ego and its archenemy, the soul. His novels portray the transformative power of calamity, PTSD and dissociation to open the portals of intuition and our potential for spiritual enlightenment.
He is a retired family physician, lifelong metaphysician and a Kriyaban yogi on Paramahansa Yogananda’s spiritual path to Self-realization. His newest work, The Bubble Rule to Spiritual Vision: A Prescription for Peace, is actually his oldest. When he was in his early twenties, he struggled to set a course for himself in a world that felt completely alien to his soul. During a critical moment of existential crisis, he stood alone under the stars, his heart pleading for the answers to, “Who am I and why am I here in this world gone mad?” The answer was delivered in dramatic fashion through an all-encompassing, consciousness-expanding experience. From that, he intuited the concept of “the bubble rule”, a basic knowing that came to guide his life. He felt compelled to write about it, but found that he lacked the words and intellectual understanding to adequately express it. The experience led him to the path of Kriya yoga and metaphysical studies during which he learned that this concept, expressed in other ways, is as ancient as spiritually itself. It is foundational. More than twenty years later, after the deaths of both his parents in a short span of time, he began to journal his spiritual impressions, ultimately compiling these into the original manuscript for The Bubble Rule to Spiritual Vision: A Prescription for Peace. The diligent efforts of a niche publisher to find a distributor to publish it failed, and in 2006 he shelved the manuscript to focus on writing the two novels of The Grover Series. In our present times, the escalation of national and global conflicts and the dire consequences of human impact on our environment impelled him to take a fresh look at the manuscript with wiser eyes. To a world begging for Peace, he is offering its revised version to the public, not as the answer, but as a guidepost pointing to those who know.
He credits his meditative practice and contemplative studies of The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, A Course in Miracles published by the Foundation for Inner Peace, and the complete works and teachings Paramahansa Yogananda, especially God Talks with Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita, Royal Science of God Realization, for helping him to understand his mystical experience and for setting him straightway up the yoga path to Self-realization.
