Woven in Time

Ron Theel is a freelance writer and visual artist whose work explores the place where observation, memory, and time converge. Drawing on decades of attentive looking--at landscapes, at people, at the moments that pass too quickly to be named--he writes to recover what daily life tends to obscure. His creative nonfiction, poetry, and photography have appeared in literary journals and publications including "The Midway Journal," "Open: Journal of Arts and Letters," "Beyond Words," "The Bluebird Word," The RavensPe-rch," "Burningword," and "Pithead Chapel," among others. "Woven in Time," his debut book, brings his two creative worlds into conversation--language and image working together to explore how the past continues to inhabit the present, and how time can change the meaning of an experience without changing the experience itself. Moving between childhood and later life, between family and solitude, humor and loss, the collection is a sustained act of attention to the overlooked and the enduring. Theel lives in western New York, where he continues to write and photograph, drawn to the small details of everyday life and the stories that remain with us long after the moment has passed.
