About the author

Robert is an award-winning speaker and storyteller. He has written a successful movie script, which is currently placed with a major studio for production. Beginning in Vietnam where he flew over 300 combat missions, he has continuously operated as a commercial pilot for almost fifty years. His book relays his adventures in different categories of flight as an Arctic pilot, an EMS helicopter pilot, a major airline pilot, and a Vietnam Cobra gunship pilot. His numerous missions demonstrated his ability to reinvent himself continuously. During his long career in the air, Robert helped raise five children who moved with him many times as he repositioned himself for the next "ideal" flying job. At one point, they headed three hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle with all their belongings stowed beneath them in the belly of a Boeing 737. He is an avid reader and model builder. Robert and his wife, Debra, live in southwest Florida, where he can often be found cruising his sailboat in and around the 10,000 islands on the West Coast in an ongoing quest for adventure.

Description

This book was created out of an effort to resolve a deep sadness that haunted the author for over thirty years; he had experienced an especially traumatic event during combat.  Struggling to state that experience on paper he eventually succeeded in depositing eleven pages onto a computer screen.  He did not stop there, but felt compelled to continue to write.

Constantly reinventing himself between helicopters and fixed wing his stories are filled with intense circumstances of all kinds dictated by inexperience, fate, and the grit to survive.  Ten chapters filled with intense action will be found between the covers of this book.

Sensational book These real-life adventure stories are riveting. I wondered how he would survive several of them! The book is also full of excellent life lessons for everyone. Up in the Air is very well-written and a must-read. Read more
