There are workshops in in acting, writing, singing and the tango Javier, the dwarf medicine man has lived on the island since 1972. He is a seer, reader of thoughts, and man of wisdom. Now, he's the bartender on the north side of the island; today, he calls himself Shorty. His potent Amazon elixirs and his mystical powers stretch perception. He is there as the island's touchstone and guide. Isadora finds that she clicks with Shorty's whimsical nature and intuition. The island stirs up life! The colorful gang of characters and the unconventional staff deliver delicious moments of insight and humor. Isadora wants to feel normal again. Yet, she recognizes that something else is happening beyond normal.

GEORGIANNA HUGHES began her first novel, Twirling Toward Alchemy, when she was living in San Isidro, Costa Rica. She continued writing the project in Uzès, France and then Cuenca, Ecuador. The final revision happened in her much-loved Santa Cruz, California, where she now resides. Travel seems intrinsic to her vivacity. She has lived in diverse cultures. Often fashioning a life where she chooses to be.
