Trapped

Trapped is a poetry book that highlights the suffering and hardship that can come when one gives in to fleshly desires rather than waiting for God’s best. Even though we make mistakes, God is still with us and will set us free in the end.

Trapped is a small yet powerful poetry book that was inspired by the author’s lust led decisions. After a moment of passion, he made a marriage vow that trapped him in a nightmare for 18 years. During those years he faced lies, betrayal, and sometimes the fear of death. However, through it all he had hope that God, through his love, would someday free him and bring an end to his torment. Many of the poems in this book speak of a friendship and an enduring love that would come once the author was free. However, the only way to experience that love and friendship was to first have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The author shares his faith, his love for Christ, and his struggle through the powerful message found within these pages. In the end, he eventually finds the peace and love he has been searching for.

Christopher Davis Sr. was born in the small town of Hopkins, South Carolina to William and Cathern Davis in the winter of 1972. Christopher’s family was somewhat dysfunctional. At a young age he witnessed domestic violence, attempted murder and was even molested by the hands of family members. He started making decisions based on what he believed was normal. So at the young age of 17, after getting a girl pregnant, he married her which set the course for the roller coaster ride that became his life for 18 years. Even though he worked hard to provide for his family, his sacrifices and diligence were not enough to satisfy his wife. His children had to watch as he was unfairly accused of infidelity, physically abused, faced four attempts on his life including being shot at, manipulated, and emotionally abused over the years. He turned to gospel rap as a source of strength and a refuge from the pain and turmoil taking place within his family. As he cried out to God for help, he was given another outlet, poetry writing, where he could pour out his anguish and heart felt love for Christ on paper. It is Christopher’s hope to inspire and help other people during difficult moments in their marriages. He hopes that the mistakes he made can help others resolve issues they face in their own marriages.
