Description

For the last ten years, I have captured the history of the National Pro Fastpitch league as a photographer for one of their teams, the Chicago Bandits. What started off as a chance meeting with the owner turned into a dream job. I watched the league grow from playing on dirt fields to competing in beautiful ballparks designed specifically for women's professional softball. Through the years I've captured images of players having fun in the dugout, winning championships, losing heartbreakers, signing autographs, retiring from the league and sharing time with their fans. The players featured in these photos are all amazing athletes. Some made the team through open tryouts, some were college stars, and some are Olympians. But all of them play with a passion that is unmatched. In celebration of my ten years with the league, I decided to put together a book celebrating its history, its players and its growth. My goal is to give you an inside look into this fascinating sport. I have sorted through thousands of photos and selected some of the best catches, the greatest plays and the love of the game that all of these women share. This is the first book of photos and interviews covering a behind-the-scenes look of life in the NPF. At a time when women's sports are gaining attention and being featured on major sport channels, this book is here to make their voices heard.
