About The Author


Anne and Martha Shaver are kindergarten teachers concerned with the growing obesity epidemic among school age children. Anne is the mother of three children whom she reminds to eat their veggies and one crazy labradoodle who will eat anything...including the food wrappers.

Margie Betts, the illustrator, has a great love for children, animals and art. A former magazine art director and designer, Mrs. Betts spent the last eighteen years teaching and developing art programs for elementary and middle school students.  The illustrations for this book were inspired by the wonderful faces of the children she saw everyday in her classroom and also her pet cat.
