Description

What begins as a single seed becomes something much more. In Theo and Violet Care for a Forever Forest, young readers are invited into the quiet, powerful journey of a forest growing over time—through changing seasons, unexpected challenges, and the steady care of those who believe in its future. Inspired by the real-life St. Helena Community Forest in Northern California, this story follows Theo and Violet as they learn that creating something lasting doesn't happen all at once, but through patience, resilience, and thoughtful action. As the forest begins to take shape, new life arrives—birds, insects, and animals—each playing a role in a growing ecosystem. Along the way, Theo and Violet discover important lessons about cooperation, responsibility, inclusion, and hope. They learn that caring for the land means paying attention, making adjustments, and understanding that both growth and setbacks are part of the journey. With each chapter, readers explore real ecological concepts—such as forest succession, wildlife habitats, pollination, and underground root systems—woven seamlessly into an engaging and accessible story. Reflection questions at the end of every chapter encourage meaningful conversations at home or in the classroom, supporting social-emotional learning and a deeper connection to the natural world. Rooted in themes of stewardship and faith, this book gently reminds readers that we are all part of something larger—that the choices we make today can shape the world for generations to come. Whether planting a tree, caring for a garden, or simply learning to notice the world around them, children are encouraged to see themselves as caretakers of the Earth. Perfect for ages 6–10, families, educators, and nature lovers, Theo and Violet Care for a Forever Forest is a timeless story about growing something that matters—and leaving it better than you found it.

About The Author

Paul Andrew Asmuth is an author, environmental steward, and lifelong athlete who believes that the most meaningful things in life are built slowly—through patience, care, and faith. His writing reflects a deep connection to the natural world and a desire to help children and families see themselves as part of something lasting and good. He is the author of Marathon Swimming: The Sport of the Soul and the children's book The Adventures and Lessons of Theo and Violet: Wonders of the Oceans, where young readers explore life lessons through experiences in nature. In Theo and Violet Care for a Forever Forest, Paul draws from real-life work alongside his wife, Marilyn, helping to plant and care for the St. Helena Community Forest in Northern California. Together, they have been part of an effort to restore the land through thousands of coast redwoods and native plants—creating a place that will grow and give back for generations to come. Paul's background as an endurance swimmer, including recognition from the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, has shaped his belief that growth—whether in forests or in life—happens one step, one stroke, and one season at a time. He lives in California with his family, where he continues to write, swim, and support projects that bring together faith, community, and care for the natural world.
