Growing up biracial in 1960s Indiana, his early experiences on Indianapolis's historic Indiana Avenue—the heart of the city's jazz scene—shaped his unique perspective on creativity and connection.
As a young musician, Myers was mentored by legendary jazz artists including Slide Hampton and The Hampton Sisters, laying the foundation for a career that would take him from local jazz clubs to professional theatre stages in New York City. His musical journey led to collaborations with iconic artists at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and work alongside industry legends like Billy Preston, Michael Feinstein, and R&B great Billy Paul.
Myers's theatrical career includes working with the best of Broadway, including producer/director Hal Prince, playwright Terrence McNally, and stars like Chita Rivera and Tony Award winners LaChanze and Kecia Lewis. His work with renowned composers John Kander & Fred Ebb and the award-winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty further established his credentials in musical theater. His television career includes memorable work on ABC's "Loving" and collaborations with acclaimed director Don Scardino, known for directing the Off-Broadway Revival of Godspell.
As a commissioned artist for the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Myers created "The Music, Martin & Me," a groundbreaking performance piece that showcased his ability to weave personal and collective narratives into profound artistic experiences. His production of "Dreamgirls" in Indianapolis, starring American Idol finalist Trenyce, was hailed as "the best show Indianapolis has ever seen" by NUVO magazine.
Myers's leadership extends across multiple organizations, serving as president of the Indianapolis Downtown Optimist Club, president of the African American Jazz Caucus, and facilitator of Coming to the Table national virtual group.
