Alyia was born and raised in West Philadelphia. Alyia found a love for writing in her earlier years because she had trouble expressing herself verbally without becoming emotional. Some of her most memorable pieces are those she wrote for loved ones whom had passed away. Writing is a  gift she had often taken for granted has turned into a passion that has proven to get her and others through some of the roughest periods in their lives. There is an art of being able to share experiences through words. Alyia is affectionately known by her friends as the “hood therapist”.
