The Shadowed Road

The Shadowed Road follows the fortunes of feisty 14-year old, Selome Fekadu. She lives in rural Ethiopia and dreams of becoming a teacher. Denied the opportunity to continue her education, she runs away to the capital city, Addis Ababa. Along the way, Selome has many encounters and adventures while her angry father chases after her. The book is also part of a larger, interactive, digital educational project found at www.theshadowedroad.com. The project is designed for the 21st century middle school learner. Universal themes such as global citizenship, human rights, democracy and access to education are explored in the graphic novel and in the larger project. Wili Liberman has been a magazine writer and editor for over 25 years and is the current and founding editor and publisher of TEACH Magazine, that began in 1992. Wili is also the co-producer of the teen travel show, Get Outta Town! that aired on TVOntario and other stations in Canada as well as WAM!, part of the Starz Encore Network in the United States. Wili is writing a series of fictionalized teen adventure books based on Get Outta Town! The titles are: Mr. X and the Circle of Death, Mr. X and the Cog Train from Heaven, Mr. X the Rainforest Monkey, Mr. X and the Vancouver Iceman and Mr. X and the Shanghai Somersault. Wili also writes graphic novels. The Shadowed Road is the first title along with the children’s storybook, Ezra and the Lion Cub. Next, is the graphic novel, The Ruptured Sky.
