The Secret Nest

Molly lives in a tree fort, a little lonely but happy. One day, Jet bird arrives . He builds his own fort all night and all day. Molly is suspicious that Jet bird can whistle louder and climb faster and may become a rival. After a while, she begins to enjoy his company and imagine their new friendship. Just when Molly is starting to enjoy Jet bird, he disappears . Molly and the reader cannot miss the big emotion that follows . Molly waits and makes many plans to be a more trusting, generous friend to him. Will Jet return? If he does , Molly's heart may just burst with joy and relief .

Molly, like many young children, is learning how to make friends and how to be a good friend, too. We don’t always understand why things go wrong in friendships, and often don’t get a second chance to help things go right. This is a story of learning that giving feels better than competing and sharing feels the best of all. 

Author and illustrator of "The Secret Nest," Laurel Holmes lives in a farmhouse surrounded by the forest. She goes on daily walks with her 2 cats and her dog. She is a mental health therapist who talks to people like you and me, everyday, helping them understand their behavior. She likes to hike, meditate, and, especially, to paint.
