The Russian Journals

This book describes Bret Schlesinger's first trip to the Soviet Union in 1964. It was an eye opening experience into a totalitarian empire. He witnessed what it was like to live behind what Winston Churchill once described as the "iron curtain." He was also able to view through its architecture the long and splendid history of Russia. He was one of the first westerners to visit central Asia with all its exquisite architecture. Although he would visit Russia several times again those first impressions would remain with him forever.
