A Journey Down the Tyrrhenian Sea

He is a graduate of the High School of Music and Art, Brandeis University and has a Masters Degree of Fine Arts from New York University. Over the years he has followed a variety of artistic pursuits. His works are in such diverse collections as Am- bassador and Mrs. Maxwell Gluck, Dmitri Nabokov, and former Mayor of New York City Ed Koch. His illustrations have been published by Random House and Athenium. He has exhibited at various universities and galleries. His prints have been sold at the Mu- seum of Natural History, the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Bronx Zoo as well as through other commercial outlets. He also produces for individualized greeting cards and personalized stationery. He creates designs for ceramic pieces and has also worked in stain glass. He started teaching in the NYC school system in 1959 at an all girl's HS (Washington Irving) where he started a mini school for troubled students (the Irving Place Academy). After 16 years he worked at the central Board of Education, then moved on on to help found A Phillip Randolph HS before finishing up at City As School, an alternative high school as a teacher and administrator. He also taught as an adjunct professor at Ford- ham and Pace Universities training future HS supervisors. He was a founding member of the International Network of European Productive Schools (INEPS) and has attended its yearly Congresses throughout Western and Eastern Europe. He was also a member of a cooperative group of artists known as the "Five Up- town Independent Artists". He served on the Board of Directors of a community based arts center called The Magus on the upper west side in Manhattan. In addition he was also an Artist in Residence at Camps Greylock and Romaca in the Berkshires for several summers during the 60's, 70's and 80's. He was a member of the Mamaroneck Artists' Guild. He edited the INEPS Newsletter (a monthly journal for the International Network of Pro- ductive Schools), and was a frequent contributor to the Theaterscene.net web site. He currently edits a weekly family newsletter entitled The Amazing Week of Bret and Susan.
