Description
“A charmingly illustrated picturebook filled with lovable animal characters and a strong ‘prayer’ message.” -The Wishing Shelf

A sad pony walks through the forest. A gentle fox and a kind raccoon soon befriend him. They are determined to cheer him up. Together they set out on an incredible forest adventure.
The pony's new friends do more than brighten his day. They share their own special prayer, which becomes a guiding light in their journey. The pony learns that prayers can be answered in unexpected ways. By being kind and gentle, he even plays a role himself.
Filled with beautiful illustrations, this sweet story provides a unique perspective for encouraging children to look to God. Many children connect very well with animals, sometimes even more so than they do with people. This book highlights the importance of letting God guide your path.
Join the adventure and see how the sad pony's life is changed. Learn the special prayer that they share. Can you use it in your life too?
This book is perfect for animal loving children. It is a welcome invitation for those who want to get closer to God, through the eyes of the animals they love. For children who already know God, this book is a wonderful affirmation that God is everywhere, and that he created and cares for every creature on this Earth.
This book uses dyslexia friendly font, which works well with young readers. Lexile measure is 530L. This book is perfect for a longer bedtime story or a child who is getting ready to transition to chapter books. It would work as an excellent supplement for Christian Homeschooling Curriculum, as a creative Sunday School lesson, or as a wonderful addition to any Church library. REVIEW
As the title aptly suggests, this is a ‘faith’ book and, in that context, it’s very good. The author, Carla Trible, is a talented writer who knows how to tell a story. For the most part, it’s accessibly written, and I think most children will like the animal characters. Not surprisingly for a book of this nature, there’s a very strong message which seems to be ‘God may answer your prayers, but not in the way you expect.’
So, what’s the book about? Basically, it’s the story of a young pony who runs away from his herd. They think he runs too fast and plays too rough. Thankfully, he meets two very welcoming and sympathetic animals – a raccoon and a fox. They have fun together, helping each other in many ways. The fox, for example, prayed to run as fast as the wind. Well, the pony can help him to do just that! The pony, it seems, is the answer to his – and the raccoon’s prayers.
All in all, I’m happy to recommend this picturebook to children aged, say, 6 – 8, particularly if they go to a ‘faith’ school or live in a ‘faith’ family. I think most young readers will enjoy the well written dialogue, the colourful illustrations, and they’ll be rooting for the pony to find happiness.
