What must the animals in that Bethlehem barn have thought the night Christ was born. People - staying in their home? Strange stars lighting the night sky? A parade of visitors?
It had to be confusing - much the way the story can be for young children when as they first hear of that birth.
Fortunately, an owl named Gabriel (hmmm) - seems to somehow have an insightful connection to the story - and is there to guide his animal friends through the night's events.
Experiencing that Night of Nights through a different lens is exciting, comforting, and experiential for young readers as well as the parents and grandparents who will help them relive it year after year.
