The Mystery at Blythe

Overview

60,000 years ago, in the Central Region of The Beyond, Hazan, the God of Healing, saved all the living by defeating the most evil and vile creature to ever walk this plane of existence, Moldark Denholm. Moldark, emboldened by Zadar, the God of Bloodshed, attempted to dominate and enslave The Beyond with a powerfully dark weapon known as the Vorpal Sword. But he failed due to the immense might of Hazan and the Staff of the Magi.

These ancient weapons went missing and were never heard of again…until now. Mysterious murders have been occurring throughout the region, unnerving its people and their leaders. The Central Region is in danger as darkness is once again encroaching upon all the living. The Beyond falling to evil is certain, and no one has dared to stand against the powers that be. The need for heroes is dire. Perhaps some daring adventurers will answer the call and deliver The Beyond from imminent doom…

Description

Nearly 60,000 years ago, a powerful civilization of magical beings thrived in a world known as The Beyond. Rich in resources and arcane energy, the Central Region was a place of peace—until ambition in the wrong creature created a devil. Moldark Denholm, a Dragonborn Druid, sought the mythical Vorpal Sword, said to grant power and dominion in exchange for blood. After finding the blade and forging a pact with Zadar, the God of Bloodshed, Moldark unleashed a reign of terror, slaughtering his kin and founding a dark religion in honor of Zadar. But Hazan, the God of Healing, heartbroken by the evil occurring in The Beyond, came down with the Staff of the Magi to stop Moldark and Zadar. In a cataclysmic battle, both gods were destroyed, and the sacred weapons vanished. Their locations remain unknown, yet legends whisper that the sword and staff still exist—waiting, waiting to be found by evil. Can you, a band of hopeful heroes, find the weapons before the enemy? This campaign book will be loved by all who play TTRPG/5e campaigns. It is full of mystery, discovery, suspense, dangerous battles, and plot twists one could never see coming. The Mystery at Blythe is designed to be played from the 1st to 10th levels for first-time Game Masters all the way through seasoned veterans.

About The Author

J.K.'s story started during Covid-19 in 2020. He was forced by his old roommates to play Dungeons and Dragons during quarantine, despite his insistence that it was a "game for nerds that didn't look like any fun." After begrudgingly giving in to peer pressure, J.K. played and could not believe how much he loved it. As a matter of fact, he actually loved it so much that he ended up writing his own homebrew campaign that he ran for a couple of different groups. All of them said it was brilliant and that he should consider publishing it one day because the world he created, "The Beyond," was loaded with creativity, lore, and insane plot twists. For years J.K. put it off, trying to make excuses for how much work it would be to publish a book, until finally he decided it was time to do it; it was time to accomplish something he had wanted to do but was too scared to attempt. In 2025, J.K. founded his own writing and publishing company, Unknown Archives LLC., with his first book, "The Mystery at Blythe," being released the same year in June. J.K. has three more installments on the way in the world of "The Beyond" and plans to continue to share his love for roleplaying games and advocate for how valuable they are in finding community and rediscovering imagination that has been lost due to social media, AI, and other distractions. J.K. holds 3 different degrees, including a Master's in Biblical Literature. He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree while serving as a full-time student minister. J.K. previously taught ethics and religion at the collegiate level. He was formerly an avid competitive tennis player and now does the same with pickleball.
