Overview

Enjoy a magical adventure with "The Mysterious Sister," a supernatural graphic novel, that is both a visual delight and a narrative wonder. This book artfully combines the mystery and intrigue of detective tales with the heartwarming bonds of family life.

For enthusiasts of juvenile fiction and fans of teen and young adult fantasy and supernatural mysteries, "The Mysterious Sister" is brimming with fantasy, secrets and the magic of coming of age.

It's an action-packed narrative that doubles as a tutorial in friendship and social skills, as well as a fantastical jaunt through a world where every crocheted loop holds a clue and every character's journey speaks of personal growth.  It's a story about the quest for love and the quest for knowing your family history.

It is a colorfully illustrated tale. Each panel is hand-drawn and spun with threads of magic, that will appeal to both the young at heart and the old soul.

And so it is a wonderful addition to the shelves of people who love mystery graphic novels - as well as action and adventure stories - because it merges the enigmatic allure of detective tales with the rich tapestry of children's family life stories.

About the author

Etoile Blanche is the visionary author and artist behind the captivating graphic novel "The Mysterious Sister," a work that is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the imagination.

Blanche has an affinity for yarn (which is mentioned within this literary fantasy book) rooted in her childhood - and inherited from a lineage of textile artisans dating back to her great grandfather's textile mill in Camden, New Jersey.

And so it’s therefore no surprise that yarn becomes one of Blanche’s mediums - and a means for her to knit together her feminist views into her various artistic pieces.

Blanche's artistic journey has also been marked by her exploration of site-specific installations, performance art, and pedestal sculpture. She has a BFA from Tyler School of Art and MAH from Arcadia University. Her sculptures often take the form of non-competitive games, inviting self-discovery.

She’s also a passionate art educator, an associate professor who taught graphic design at Bucks County Community College. Plus she's an advocate for play theory -  someone who believes in the power of play's creativity - a theme prevalent in her many interactive art projects.

No matter which artistic medium Blanche chooses, her art is consistently aimed at engaging viewers on a personal level, inviting them to touch, feel, and be a part of her creative adventures.

She brings this passion for creativity and engagement into her newest work of art - her hand-drawn graphic novel, ”The Mysterious Sister," where every page invites readers to participate in a world of mystery and wonder.
