About The Author
Gloria J. West is a wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Temple University childcare program in 1982, and then later graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Social Work degree, in 2014.
Gloria works as a police officer for Temple University. She has had the pleasure of being assigned to their Community Relations Division. She worked along with her co-workers in developing self-help skills for children, such as bicycle safety program, Police Youth Alliances reading program, Justice Department Gang Resistance Education and Training Program, and Youth Gardening Club.
She has worked professionally with children of all ages, in different settings. She has taught preschool and was a Field Aide Recruiter for Philadelphia Girl Scouts from 1979-1981. She worked in daycare setting from 1981-1985. She taught life skills to the mentally and physically challenged at Wood Haven Center. She volunteered as a teacher in the Children Education Ministry at New Covenant Church of Philadelphia from 1998-2016.
Gloria enjoyed volunteering at New Covenant Church children's ministry; it was her life assignment. You see at a young age; her mother introduced her to Jesus Christ. When Gloria was a child, she used to have bad dreams. She would cry out for her mom and her mother would tell her to call on the name of Jesus Christ. Gloria would plead the blood of Jesus until she fell back to sleep. The memory of her mom teaching her about Jesus motivated Gloria to want to teach children about Jesus, as well as the passing of her mom. When Gloria's mother passed, she promised God, that she would join a church and work with the children.
Another factor was her neighbor, Ms. Palmer who took Gloria to church, at the age of fourteen. There she fell in love with her Sunday school teacher Ms. Singleton who led Gloria to be baptized, at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, located in Philadelphia.
Gloria continues to volunteer in the children's ministry at her daughter Syreeta Church, New Mt Zion Pentecostal COGIC in North Philadelphia. There she has given them valuable input on the structure and format on conducting Children's Ministries.
The knowledge that she obtained from school, work, personal experiences, and her relationship with God, lead her to write this book.
