The Legacy Child

By James Hanlon

Overview

THE LEGACY CHILD is a high-stakes, ticking-clock thriller set against the 25th anniversary of September 11th. It follows a military intelligence officer — the daughter of an FDNY firefighter killed on 9/11 — as she is drawn into a covert world shaped by the long shadow of that day. As the anniversary approaches, buried threads surface, forcing her into a race against time where nothing is what it seems. The deeper she goes, the clearer it becomes — some truths were never meant to be found.

Description

On a quiet morning in 2001, a four-year-old girl stands outside a Long Island church, wrapped in her father's FDNY jacket as his flag-draped coffin is carried past her. The image taken that day would come to define a generation. The press would call her The Legacy Child. Years later, JoJo McCoy has become exactly what that moment demanded. A West Point graduate. A military covert intelligence officer. A woman forged by grief and driven to understand what was taken and why. When fragments of a long-buried truth begin to surface, she is pulled into a war few know exists. A shadow deep-state network. A past that refuses to stay buried. A threat timed with chilling precision to the 25th anniversary of September 11. As the clock ticks down, the line between history and conspiracy fractures, and JoJo realizes that the truth may be more dangerous than the attack itself. In his debut novel, James Hanlon draws from a lifetime on the front lines to deliver a thriller of rare authenticity and relentless tension … where every second counts, and the past is never truly over.
