About The Author

Liz Constable is a New Zealand-based author and self-taught book artist from Book Art Studios. Liz has published five books, however, The Department of Angels is her debut novel. Blending her love of storytelling with a deep passion for bookmaking, Liz designed the cover for her new book, creating a unique and playful result. Highly experimental by nature, her work reflects a curiosity-driven philosophy of "what happens if," particularly in her explorations of dye and paper. A natural born teacher, Liz makes learning fun and loves taking her students on creative adventures, inviting them to explore new paths with her, simply to see where they lead.

The Department of Angels

By Liz Constable

Overview

The story begins at the end, or the story ends at the beginning…you decide. Martha, an artist never imagined her life would change so dramatically after she experiences a freak accident in her studio and finds herself passing through a door into another life. As a newly dead, she expects to sit, wait, and be processed. But, to her astonishment, she finds out she's been recruited by George, the manager of The Department of Angels, where she soon discovers the staff are as flawed and as complicated as their clients with all their unfinished business. One of the most mysterious staff members is The Secret Keeper, known to all as SK. His job is to keep secrets until his clients are ready to deal with them. But what happens when the biggest secret of all belongs to The Secret Keeper? Sharp, funny and unexpectedly moving, this novel is about flawed employees, evolving souls, and forgiveness on both sides of the veil. Note: I'm not going to lie. There is swearing. But to be fair, Robbie Browne (with an e, whatever you do, do not forget the e) is from a criminal family in Salford. And he would simply not say, "I'm going to punch you in the flipping face."
