Paummi's life at 35 had not turned out at all how she had imagined it. Instead of being a blissfully married mother of two, she lived with her toxic ex-girlfriend, worked two jobs, and was about to spend her spring break traveling with a group of middle-school students. At least the trip would take her to France, a country that she had fallen in love with as a teenager.
