About the author

Moragh, whose name is pronounced Mora, was born and brought up in the UK and has lived in north-west England for most of her life. The eldest of three girls, she was sent to boarding school at 12 years old, after which she trained as a nurse and a physio (physical therapist). After marrying and bringing up three boys, much of her time was spent caring for her increasingly disabled husband. She started writing after she was widowed and she had her first book, a biography, published in 2012. She has also had a number of articles published in the Guardian newspaper and in various magazines. She's been an avid traveller since being widowed, travelling many times to the USA, visiting friends and relatives. She has also travelled extensively in the UK, following her love of country music. She found that travelling solo gave her more freedom to visit people, sometimes staying in their homes, enabling her to see and experience things not normally seen on the usual tourist trail. She has driven many thousands of miles in the USA during the ten years she regularly visited there. The original story in this children's book was written by her late husband. After finding the manuscript languishing on a bookshelf, Moragh decided to extensively edit it and get it published for children everywhere to enjoy. She also plans to eventually publish some of the many stories of her travels, which she's written about in her blog, 'Discovering the Real America'. Her other hobbies are line dancing, music and oil painting.
