Description

Emerging from the heart of the most paradoxical chapter of Sameerah's life—where the hardest moments birthed the deepest truths—these poems serve to confront and inspire. Each poem holds a rawness that holds nothing back and illuminates the consequences of choices as well as the power the reader has to change them. These pages offer a mirror: one that invites you to see yourself, your power and your growth in a new light. Walk with Sameerah through moments of pain and power, through confusion and clarity, grief and growth. Feel what she felt, receive the lessons she's learned, and witness the wisdom that came from incarceration and which led to elevation. By the end, readers will feel not just challenged but ready to embrace their own personal transformation with intention and courage.

About The Author

Sameerah Wyivine is an author who was born on a birthday revered as an angelic number. Talented, intelligent, creative, and ambitious, she defied the odds of her circumstances and hungered for more. Yet, just like life is full of ebbs and flows, so too was Sameerah's life. Excelling in academics in her school years as well as being a champion athlete and award-winning writer, Sameerah left full-ride scholarships behind to pursue her dream of becoming a rap artist. Though she was able to get signed, she left her music career after the disbandment of her agency and the birth of her daughter. She then fell down the unsavory path of financial fraud and found herself in jail—leading to the start of her search for a deeper connection to the Creator. After her release, Sameerah continued a path of ups and down from establishing her own businesses in both the hair and massage fields before falling back down the path of crime which lead to steeper consequences. She was sentenced to fifty-four months in federal prison where she spent her time authoring poetry and reconnecting with herself. Since serving her sentence, she has become an author, television producer, and content creator. She also finds joy in giving back by volunteering to assist in classes for cognitive behavioral therapy after completing a similar program while incarcerated. She hopes her journey can serve as an example of how you can learn from the consequences of your mistakes and use your struggles as a catalyst for change.
