About The Author


Tiffany Henyard is an American politician who served as the mayor of Dolton, Illinois, from 2021 to 2025, and as Supervisor of Thornton Township from 2022 to 2025. She previously served two terms as a member of the Dolton Village Board, 2013, becoming the 1st youngest female trustee through 2021 Henyard was sworn in as mayor on May 8, 2021, becoming the first female and youngest mayor in the village's 130-year history at age 36. As you can see, she continues to make history. During her tenure, Henyard focused on community development and youth engagement. She initiated the "Block by Block" program, which allowed residents to purchase vacant houses for $5,000, with the aim of revitalizing neighborhoods and increasing tax revenue. As Thornton Township Supervisor, she continued the Assistance Program, renaming it the Henyard Assistance Program (HAP), which provided teenagers with summer jobs mowing lawns for senior citizens. In February 2024, she announced a $1 million housing assistance program to help residents behind on rent and mortgage payments. Henyard's leadership was recognized with the "Martin Luther King Service Award" at a local business brunch in 2024, honoring her commitment to public service. Despite facing challenges and controversies during her time in office, Henyard's tenure marked a significant chapter in Dolton's history, highlighting her role as a trailblazer and advocate for community initiatives.
