About the author
Carme's background is as diverse as his musical talents. Raised in a small town of upstate New York, Carme spent his early years listening to his idols Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and Tony Bennett. The consummate Italian, Carme always knew he was going to be an entertainer, never realizing that one day he would end up working with many of the most famous entertainers in the industry.
He honed his skills as a standup comic and singer working in mob owned strip joints and nightclubsof the Northeast and Midwest to learn the business, and as he says, "pay his dues." His work eventually took him to famous clubs such as the Copa, the Latin Quarter, and the Chez Paree. Carme has literally worked in all the main rooms along the Las Vegas strip as a singer, comedian and impressionist after moving there in 1968. He has performed in venues such as the Desert Inn, the Sands, the Dunes, the Riviera, Union Plaza, Hacienda, Frontier, Aladdin and the Thunderbird. With over 50 years in the entertainment industry he has worked with such names as Andy Griffith, Robert Goulet, Harry James, Roy Clark, Suzanne Sommers, Phyllis Diller, the Smothers Brothers, Jackie Vernon, Pattie Page, Theresa Brewer, Kay Starr, etc.
His background includes movies, stage shows, production shows, television and at times, stuntman. Carme is an expert horseman, an avid outdoorsman, and an expert with a hunting bow. For a number of years he even raised wolves.
Carme still performs today on cruise lines throughout the world and does special stage shows in Florida. His show combines playful impressions of major stars, artful storytelling and yodeling. One of the things that sets his show apart from many others is his insistance on working with a live band. Blessed with an outstanding and powerful baritone voice, Carme has performed for Ambassadors, Presidents, Kings and two queens from San Francisco!
