By Tom Weaver

Overview

Alzheimer's is the kind of disease that, when it comes into your life, things will never be the same. As the disease progresses, change happens rapidly but also slowly—but the changes never stop. Every day is different, and the cause is always the same. "She Forgot Me" describes some of the feelings that Tom Weaver dealt with, the obstacles he faced, and his solutions when his loved one was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He hopes that as you read it, you will find encouragement, discover your strengths, and realize you aren't alone. Everyone's journey through terminal disease is different, but the result is the same. Don't give up; you aren't alone.

Description

This book is about how Alzheimer's entered the lives of my wife and I. Unexpectedly and shortly after our marriage. There were many feelings and obstacles through this journey that her and I went on. I call it a journey because we were traveling through it for years and it was part of our daily life. There many things that I experienced that were firsts and hopefully lasts. My family has been very supportive and encouraging through these hard years. I held tight to my faith through all of this journey and trusted in God's plan. I have strong church family that was there for me through all of this. Joining an Alzheimer's support group to help me understand what was happening and could happen as the disease progressed was very helpful to me. As you read the book you will understand the many odd occurrences and situations that need to be solved. And you may come to know that whatever you have ahead of you can be dealt with. There are solutions and when you are stumped, there is help available

About The Author

Tom Weaver has lived in Alaska since he moved there as a teenager from Idaho in 1974. He enjoys four private acres in a 2-bedroom cabin in the Soldotna area with his old cat named Kobuk. Over the years, Tom has traveled a lot and has found that Alaska is home, and there is nowhere else he would want to live. He enjoys his free time outdoors as he enjoys the peace, quiet, and privacy that can be found in nature. However, he still enjoys traveling to new places and seeks out new adventures to keep his life exciting. But now, most of his time traveling is spent visiting family or attending shooting competitions. Tom still attends the same same non-denominational Christian church that he and his wife started attending over 10 years ago. The congregation there has been very supportive and encouraging through this Alzheimer's journey. He stays involved with his support group with Alzheimer's Resources of Alaska and still visits his wife's assisted living facility.
