Overview
As opposed to the Creator's "ways" with humankind, SEVEN IMPERATIVES focuses on how humans should best relate to their Creator as specifically revealed in Hebrew scriptures. A few verses from the Christian New Testament are included for greater clarity where Jesus of Nazareth converses with both a scribe and a lawyer. SEVEN IMPERATIVES explores eight key Hebrew scriptures that describe in the imperative voice how the Creator of the Universe wants humans to relate to the Almighty. Important Hebrew words in each verse are spotlighted and described in short chapters that contain the primary meaning behind each key word, their transliterated Hebrew pronunciation, as well as the actual Hebrew characters. Seven of the verses are from the book of Deuteronomy (DEVARIM in Hebrew) and one verse from the book of Joshua (Y'HOSHUA in Hebrew). Eight imperatives are analyzed as to both frequency in the texts as well as meaning, and these are reduced to seven in the last chapter: Love Him, Cleave to Him, Walk in His Ways, Keep His Commandments, Fear Him, Serve Him, and Listen to His Voice. The second half lays out a simple approach to praying the Imperatives. SEVEN IMPERATIVES is a great little book that will help you make the main thing the main thing. Whether you are Jewish or Christian, you will find the book helpful. Our Muslim friends will enjoy comparing these "imperatives" to their own—seeing which are similar and which are not. SEVEN IMPERATIVES will bless everyone who reads it. Chapters are short and to the point! Servants of Christ is a 45-year-old community of believers located in Memphis, Tennessee. Much of its attention over the last forty years has been on sound Biblical teaching based on the original sources. The community is ecumenical and involved with the ministry of "Coaching. Life Matters" headquartered in Nashville Tennessee as well as "Indigenous Advance," a mission that supports local initiatives in the country of Uganda.

About the author
Russell Bloodworth Jr., author, has been part of a small, grass-roots fellowship of Christian disciples for over forty years. His first book, Visions, Dreams & Encounters, takes the reader through a 65-year history of actual encounters with God in the lives of very ordinary people. Many are from his own experiences and others from those with whom he has walked. He and his wife of fifty years, Fran, became part of a small house church in Memphis, Tennessee in the early 1970s – a time of great social upheaval and the Jesus movement. They are the proud parents of four children and thirteen grandchildren. His second book, The Emerging Ekklesia, covers 147 chapters of the New Testament and is available in paperback, E-book, and on Audible. His third book, Who Are You Anyway?, takes a deep dive into Exodus 34:6-7 and explores the meanings behind the Hebrew words used in the Creator's proclamation. It is available in paperback, E-book, and in audio via Audible. Working in conjunction with Servants of Christ, Russell has recently released his fourth book, You & God, which is now available in a second addition entitled Seven Imperatives. An accomplished watercolorist, you can view some of his watercolors at https://russellbloodworth.net.
