J. Stanley Oakes Jr. is an author who has had a remarkable journey from resisting attending college during his teen years, to spending his adult years engaging with leading intellectuals and university professors around the globe—including becoming a college president himself for a short term. One constant in Stan's journey has been contesting at the fault line between the received wisdom of the past, including faith traditions, and the newer interpretations and approaches brought forward by those referred to as "The Intelligentsia" by Richard Pipes.
