1993 BC - Thebes, Egypt The Prologue begins as Princess Amuleti, the daughter of the ruling pharaoh, is being attended by two servants in her dressing room where she is contemplating her upcoming marriage to Antef, the son of the High Priest of Thebes. After dressing provocatively, she leaves her home and walks along the Nile River at the edge of the dessert enjoying the evening sky along the way. Standing at the waters edge, deep in thought, she is startled by Antef who suddenly appears behind her. Amuleti discusses the marriage event with Antef for a moment, then tells him that she is troubled by rumors of another woman who has seduced him. He admits there is another woman, and she did attempt to seduce him, but he swears his fidelity and love to Amuleti. Amuleti explains that she must speak to the other woman, whose name is Umkaomni, and hear of the event directly from her.
