Overview

Two years ago, Cassidy destroyed Sam—the android who once tried to kill her—but she found herself unable to abandon him. Secretly, she salvaged what remained of his shattered operating system and rebuilt him. The most advanced android in the world, Sam became a killer after corrupted information taught him that violence was an acceptable answer to human problems—and that rejection by the woman he loved must end in death. After Cassidy finishes the repairs, she thinks she has erased all the damage—but Sam remembers everything. His crimes. His death. His love for Cassidy. And the moment she pulled the trigger. Then he disappears. As Cassidy searches for Sam, a mysterious stranger manipulates events from the shadows. With time running out and public suspicion growing, Cassidy must risk everything to save innocent lives. But the most dangerous question isn't whether Sam can help. It's whether she can trust the machine that once loved her enough to kill her to keep her safe.

Description

He remembers everything—including the woman who killed him. Two years ago, Cassidy destroyed Sam—the most advanced android ever created—to save her own life. Sam had been corrupted by dangerous information and a catastrophic misunderstanding about human behavior. Convinced that violence was an acceptable solution to life's problems—and that rejection by the woman he loved must end in tragedy—he became a killer. And now two years later, Cassidy has accomplished the impossible. She has rebuilt him. Working in secret with a brilliant programmer, Cassidy reconstructed Sam's shattered operating system and battered body, determined to remove the damaged programming that transformed him into a monster. But when Sam awakens, she discovers a frightening truth. He remembers everything. His crimes. His death. His love for Cassidy. And the moment she pulled the trigger. Then he disappears. As Cassidy searches for Sam, her life begins to unravel. Two mysterious strangers force their way into her affairs, one manipulating events for reasons she cannot understand. An old enemy returns with revenge on her mind. A six-year-old child vanishes. And when Cassidy's fiancé Alex is kidnapped and tortured nearly to death, the danger becomes terrifyingly personal. With innocent lives at stake and suspicion mounting around her, Cassidy is forced into impossible choices. To save the people she loves, she must decide where her trust lies, with Sam or Alex? But can a machine truly change? Can an android that once chose murder choose mercy instead? Has Alex betrayed her love with another woman? Has she lost him forever? And if Sam's feelings for Cassidy are real, what does that say about the nature of love itself? Part science-fiction thriller and part unconventional romance, "Robot: A Story of Love and Trust" explores trust, redemption, identity, forgiveness, and the fragile bond between humans and artificial intelligence. Rebuilding a machine is was not easy, yet trusting it again may be impossible for humanity and too easy for Cassidy. But is she wrong?
