Overview
Retrash is the result of a 3 year collaboration with 82 artists and designers from 20 countries around the world. Retrash will inspire you with creative and innovative ideas on reusing second hand materials. The printed version of the book is a recycled piece of art itself as it is printed on 100% recycled paper. Retrash represents a small part of the solution to our growing problem of waste, which is to reduce the demand for new materials by reusing existing materials. If we can reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill and in our oceans, we can also reduce the need for sourcing new materials through deforestation and mining.

Foreword from the author: "To all of you who have contributed such inspiring ideas, I thank you for making Retrash what it is today. This book has given me the opportunity to meet some of the most creative and generous individuals that I have ever met. It has been my passion for the last four years to promote recycling and upcycling innovations to the world and I look forward to continuing on this journey. I truly believe that this book and the incredible people behind it can inspire us all to see waste differently by opening our minds to more creative and practical solutions. I hope you enjoy it." About the author
Nathan Devine is a photographer and graphic designer, with a passion for reducing the impact we humans have on our planet. He is the founder of Retrash.com, a website focused on promoting upcycling to the world. He has dedicated the last 4 years of his life promoting the most beautiful and innovative ideas to inspire others to rethink waste. Nathan's passion for creating new from old started when he was working in the family business, which was mowing lawns and trash removal. He was at the dump on a fairly regular basis as a child and was always excited by what treasures he may find to take home. "One time when we were at the dump, I noticed half a dozen small black and white TVs that my dad let me take home to clean up and sell. It was such an empowering feeling to be able to create my own pocket money from something that had been thrown away. That event really changed my perspective on trash and the value that it has to different people." "By reusing the materials we already have, we can reduce the need for sourcing new materials, while at the same time reducing the amount of trash ending up in landfill and oceans".
