About the author

Carliss Maddox is a Maryland-based author, educator, and poet. She is the author of two children's books, Firstgarten, and #thebuildup: 12 Daily Affirmations for Young Boys of Color. Her stories are inspired by personal experiences and the raw realities of life. Carliss holds an M.A. Degree in Education. She is a member of the SCBWI.
