The two men fishing in an ice hut were aeronautical engineers, recently retired, who had specialized in flight testing. Here on a frozen Canadian lake, Project Silver Bullet was hatched. An eighteen-man team of carefully chosen engineers and pilots conducted the ambitious, top-secret program from an abandoned underground base in the Australian outback. Continuing development led to an unbeatable fighter aircraft that proved its superiority in battle. An unconventional engine when subsequently introduced allowed it to approach the speed of light and rendezvous with a spaceship from the future.
