Overview

Who lives where in Florida? What do they care about? How do they vote?

Description

Who lives where in Florida, and how do they vote? This authoritative guide to the demographics of this unique state looks at each of its 120 state House districts up close, with information about who lives there, and how they've voted in recent elections and why. It's a detailed, must-have guide for anyone working in Florida politics, or just interested in the political demography of one of the nation's most dynamic states. From the conservative Navy-town of Pensacola to bastions of Democratic voting in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and everything in between, The News Service of Florida's Political Almanac of Florida tells the story of the state's voters: who they are, where they came from, and how they're likely to cast their ballots.

About the author

David Royse has spent 17 years writing about Florida, 15 of them focusing on public policy, politics and the Legislature, first for The Associated Press and then as the founding executive editor of the News Service of Florida. During that time, he covered government, including more than 15 legislative sessions and the administrations of four governors, and political stories, including the deadlocked presidential election of 2000 and every legislative election for more than a decade. Royse has also worked for the AP in Miami and Louisville, Ky., as well as for newspapers and radio stations. A native of Louisville and a graduate of The College of Wooster in Ohio, he has a master's degree in journalism from The University of Missouri.
